Local synagogue to celebrate Israeli art
Beth El Congregation will host a celebration of Israeli art from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 18 in the synagogue’s auditorium, 464 S. Hawkins Ave., Akron.The display will include more than 300 pieces of framed and unframed art. Items for sale include original oils, watercolors, woodcuts, etchings and limited-edition hand-woven tapestries, hand-printed signed lithographs and serigraphs. Several pieces from the Safrai Fine Art Gallery, an art proprietor in Jerusalem, will also be on display. Prices range from $80 to $4,000.Special activities, including a scavenger hunt and art education classes, will be offered for children from 10 a.m. to noon. Children will receive coupons worth $18 that can be used toward the purchase of artwork. Tickets for a lithograph raffle are $5 each. There is no entrance fee to the art show.
